Full Version: Save Text - Bug?

Hello,

there is the possibility to edit the definition.txt in the webgui with
"save text" function.
It does not work at my setup!

Does anybody got experiences or can anybody confirm that this is a bug?

Would be great if this would work because it would make experimenting with definition parameters much more easier.

Thank you & Cheers

Are you talking about the "submit" button?  If your samples are on the system partition they can not be updated.
Hi Drumbox,
On the image is should be working as described.
I hope I can help and would appreciate if you can start manually, as described on the Build it page.
When submitting the text change, you should see mount messages (and possibly error messages) between the webserver loglines. These should give a lead.

Hi Ken,
I think samples can only be on the system partition, if either
  • the SD image has changed (deleted samples partition, extended system partition and change fstab). If you do that, then I expect you know what you're doing = if it breaks you may keep the pieces.
  • run from a desktop, which has been setup in such a way that gv.rootprefix (defined on top of samplerbox.py) can remain "".
This would imply to have samplerbox files in /root. I did not think of somebody working like this as I considered this bad practice. I introduced the gv.rootprefix to avoid that.
But anyway: the script needs to know whether it runs on the image (where the samples directory is RO and thus needs remounts) or on a system where it can just save.
And if it erroneously wants to remount a samples subdir on a desktop, the thing fails.
In next release(s) it will have a better of determining "do I run from a distributed SD"

Hi Hans,

I did like you told me...
this is what my samplerbox tries to tell me when pressing "Save Text".  (with USB-Stick mounted)

mount: /dev/sda1 mounted on /media.

And you are right, the "Save Text" button works as expected without the USB-Stick:

mount: /dev/mmcblk0p3 mounted on /samples.

Hi DrumBox,
I'll proceed via PM as this seems to be an individual issue (for me it works and this is the first report on misbehaviour). Conclusion to be shared ofcourse.  Wink
