MP3 support in SamplerBox?

I was wondering if it was possible to use MP3 files for things such as long backing tracks to conserve on space.
Is this a possibility?

MP3 is not supported.

• Features of samplerbox (especially loop, also essential for backtracks) rely on extensions of the wav format, not supported by mp3.
  So the internal format must adhere to wav standards. No real roadblock as features mentioned are optional, so next step:
  
• Converting of mp3 samples to wav format on load time (when not needing those features) will be possible, but would add to memory usage and sample load time.
  

So this is trade off between convenience when making sample sets or convenience and resources at run time. I'm not ready to go for this yet.
